What motivates me?
Motivation is one of the main factors that influence whether students do well in school. You can be brilliant or clever but without the motivation to succeed in school, you may not succeed.
I am motivated to learn from my sister who is very supportive of me. I am also motivated in certain classes by my lectures. Although I want to succeed in all my classes, regardless of the lecture, having an outgoing, charismatic lecture makes my motivation soar. When a lecture shows that he/she is excited about the subject, and concerned about the students, I get a feeling of strong motivation. Why would I want to let down a teacher who tries so hard?
And also, giving my all to a class full of life will probably only mean I will enjoy that class that much more and also walk away with a sense of accomplishment. That sense of accomplishment is also what motivates me for the future. For instance, Research Methodology is not a strong subject for me, nor my favorite subject at all as the result I had plans not to do Master degree, but with a lecture who motivates me by believing in me and helping me, by the end of the year I see my accomplishment and are much more motivated for future in research classes.
Lectures should give us feedback of our assignments as quickly as possible, return tests immediately and they should give us some indication of how well they have done and how to improve. Rewards can be as simple as motivating us as student's.
