We are what we do…..

People out there are curious because where I stay my neighbors keep on asking me many questions if why I am still studying and some people believe that BTech is the waste of time. It’s not easy to answer all the questions and I just keep quiet. The thing is that people are always interested on other people’s lives and I don’t know why. The reason why I am writing this blog is that I am interested in how and why ordinary people do strange things, things that seem alien to their natures. Why do good people sometimes act evil? Why do smart people sometimes do crazy things?

Well four years down the line I see myself working for government in the media relations department, I do like to work in media relations and I will share all my experience that I have learned from Cansa.

When I was still young, I wanted to be journalist and maybe one day I will study journalist as the short course because I love writing and I am inquisitive and my inquisitive nature is to ask questions but there are so many things I like to do when I am  free. People out there want to get professions from different fields so that they can get better jobs and look after their families.

Everything happens for a reason

Sometimes people get into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there. To serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or helps you to know who you are or who you want to be in future maybe you want to be like 50 cent one day. You never know who these people may be but you lock your eyes with them, you know that every moment that they will affect your life in some profound way. Most of the time things happen to people at the time that may seem horrible, difficult times, but in reflection you to realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would never realize your potential, strength, will power or heart.

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of luck. Illness, love, lost moments of true greatness.  Did you know that people you meet everyday affect your life? The successes and downfalls that you experience can create who you are, and the bad experiences can also help to learn. In fact, they are perhaps the most touching and important ones.

Let’s say your girl friend hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, the only thing that you can do is to forgive that person because she has helped you learn about life and you must be careful of those people you open your heart to. If person show love to you, you can love them back unconditionally not only because they love you, but also because they are teaching a lesson on how to love and the way you can open your heart to people you love.

We are afraid of wrong things

We are afraid of the wrong things? Are we really? There are lots of things to be afraid in our days; poverty, pestilence, And if you want to see what I am talking about  just pick up any newspaper or turn on your TV news;  you will find that they are filled with crime and fires and fears and tears and loathing.

I am afraid of certain things...like the commuting suicide and murder. But I think us as humans tend to also be afraid of the wrong things, this thing might be helpful to us because it has a control on the way we live and the way we do things.

We are so afraid of what people are going to say about us and in our days, people keep on judging each other because when they see you wearing nice clothes they will think that you have a lot of money but that is the wrong judgment. But if they see you wearing on trouser everyday they will say this one is coming from a poor background.

We are so afraid to die why? The reason we fear it is
because we have no provable way of knowing what happens when we die. Some religions try to answer this question, and science tries as well, but in the end, we really have nothing but faith to go on.We are afraid of failure so we don't try. Why are we so afraid to fail at school? The fear of failure is one fear that a person’s potential and their contribution to mankind. We all have the purpose to fulfill in life and some people will withdraw at the first sight.

So the lesson in all of this is, we already have what it takes to get there. Take courage…..stay on the journey and I promise you that you will win!

Self confidence

In 2006, when I was in High School and if I can still remember it was early in morning. I looked in the draw for a pair of socks that would match my outfit (school uniform), and I only found a pair of stripe red and white socks.

When I got outside I noticed that my socks were not gray, but stripe red and white!  After I have noticed that I am not wearing the right pair of socks, I was shocked and guessed it was maybe the lighting in the bedroom.  So I told myself that when I got to my destination, I will take my socks off  because they didn’t match with my school uniform that I was wearing and as you know that learners are not allowed to wear stripe red and white socks, they are only allowed to wear grey socks.

When I went back home to take my socks off, I saw they were no longer stripe red and white, My best guest was the overhead lights were filtering out the color white which made my socks stripe red and white.

And that got me thinking on how we use filters on people and on ourselves.  Our filters are like the color spectrum, we can color our experiences, with prejudices, and judgments from past experiences, family culture, etc. Now I want to know from you classmates, what filters are preventing you from having high confidence and self-esteem? Are there any comments?

Fish falling from the sky.

Animals are luck because they always survive from the fall, Residents of a small outback Australian town were shocked after fish began falling from the sky.
Hundreds of spangled perch bombarded the 650 residents of Lajamanu, shocking local Christine Balmer, who was walking home when the strange 'weather' started.

This women told people that she saw hundred of fishes running all over the place. The locals were running around everywhere picking them up. The falling of the fish from the sky is help giving to people by someone else.

The fish were all alive when they hit the ground so they would have been alive when theywere upthereflyingaround the sky. When Christine Balner told her family, who live in another part of Australia, about the fish falling from the sky, they thought that she lost the plot. It was not the first time residents of the small town see fish falling out of the sky. After the incident  Christine Balner walked out the door to have some couple of beers and none of her friends believed her when she was sharing the story.

What is the colour of the wind?

The colour of the wind topic is not easy and I believe that everyone will come up with their views. I tried to search on different search engines but I didn’t find anything.

We all know that the wind is invisible so I say what colour is the wind. All I know is that wind is the air that surrounds us, wind is a gust of the air and it is transparent. The wind is powerful because it pushes people. For example when I was still young, I used to play kite with friends outside on the wind but when I get older I told myself that I am not going to play kite when there is wind because what I have noticed is that wind is dangerous. I want to know from you what the colour of the wind is.

Leadership

Leadership is necessary for success. Leadership means influencing people to accomplish an objective and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent. It is also known as the follower and when your followers follow you as the leader it doesn’t mean that they have to follow you in everything, it can be one or two areas. For example, you might be a very good machine operator and there might be several people coming to you for advice on how to run machine. Leadership is what makes the difference between success and failure, excellence and mediocrity and sometimes even life death. This applies to nations, businesses, schools, churches and families. Good leadership brings good results, bad leadership or a lack leadership leads to failure

Take the example of South Africa. Ask yourself where would our country be today without the leadership of Nelson Mandela? Today in our country we are having peace instead of war, instead of oppression we have democracy. It says that good leaders are made not born. Nelson Mandela is a great political and moral leader of our times because he made the ANC vision as his vision. He also managed to put a new vision into the hearts of the South African people. He encourages the people of South Africa to learn about each other that’s why he is described as a good leader.

Dealing with conflict

As human beings with our own set of likes and dislikes, needs and wants, we will always find conflict with other human beings. Conflict is part of life. How to deal with conflict positively is an essential life skill. When I was still in high school I was taught that conflict is negative, but this is not always true. Conflict happens when we have different views. This is not a bad thing; it is normal.

We are all different from each other and have needs and wants that are different from each other so conflict will always be around. The most important thing is how we deal with it. We can deal with it positively or negatively. If we believe that conflict is bad, then we are going to deal with it either by being aggressive or by avoiding it. Both of these are negative. Avoiding conflict means that you will never develop deep, meaningful relationships. And being aggressive means that you will be seen as a bully and lose both yourself respect and the respect of others.

Sometimes conflict is necessary, for instance, when the other party is acting unethically. Good relationships do not happen overnight. A good relationship takes time to develop. A good communicator knows how to handle conflict. We all have our own ways of dealing with conflict and our own styles of handling difficult situations. I believe that this blog will help you to know and see the tips on how to handle conflict.

Technology

Technology has made lives easier and quicker but on the other hand it’s dangerous. Taking in consideration some of the modern daily life inventions such as internet help us to get information faster and it also allow us to be connected with friends and family, for instance there are social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and mixit where you can open an account and make new friends. I like to watch TV because it allow us to watch a number of different channels and I believe that it makes our lives easier and efficient, on the other hand, it also exposes some shocking truths and life experience.

A good example of life experience, my sister told me to watch 3rd Degree when a lady known as Nana Ntombela was sharing her story on eTV. Nana was not able to stand in 2009. Her one leg is a metre and a half in circumference, and her condition confuses her neighbours in this the small village in KZN. They call her the elephant woman. She told us that she is unable to go to the toilet, not able to make herself food or even put on underwear. 3rd Degree speaks to experts who explain that her condition could be elephantiasis, but until Nana gets help, she lives on in pain and uncertainty.

People spend a lot of time using internet and what I have noticed is that all we care about is checking our emails and text messages without the true emotional bond and relationship with each other. Technology can also create financial problems in families because most technologies are very expensive to buy. Take the example of a television. In the past, there was a simple TV and this kind of TV had two dials, a volume control and a channel changer.

If I were the boss

If I were the boss, firstly being a boss is not easy. The best thing you can do is to think what kind of changes I would need to undergo to be a successful boss and equip myself with all the knowledge I that will be needed and I will secure my position as the boss just like everyone else is doing in their companies. I will come up with a plan, Make sure that everyone does the job properly.

I will always come to work really early. Come up with fresh ideas.  Work will start on Monday, ends Friday. I will be harsh because if one of my employees isn’t doing the work well he/she will lose the job. If I were boss I would say kind words to my employees when the work is far and obviously they will be motivated to come to work the next day.

For a man who has given his best by day he will get a little more than his weekly pay. When you are a boss you have to be harsh, trust your own decisions, be confident and remember one thing that being confident drives the company, there must be boundaries between your employees and you as the boss and that will help you get the respect that you deserve.
